Take some time out from your Paris sightseeing to learn how to make a famous French confection – macarons. Meet a local French chef in a private Parisian apartment in the heart of the city, where you'll discover the secrets behind making these esteemed, colorful French delights, made of two moist meringue shells sandwiched together by a creamy filling. This small-group experience is limited to eight people, so you'll learn how to make these special treats with personalized attention from your host.

Highlights

  • Free snacks included
  • Get inside tips from a local
  • Perfect introduction for first-time visitors
  • Small group ensures personal service
Under the watchful eye of your expert host – a French chef – spend an afternoon in a private apartment in the heart of Paris, discovering the culinary secrets to making delicate macarons from the recipe of the famous French pastry chef Pierre Hermé. The double-decker macaron – made by sticking two macaron shells together with ganache (filling)—was first done by Maison Ladurée, a legendary Paris pastry shop, in 1930. Today, colorful macaroons line all Parisian pastry shops. Chic and irresistibly delicious, they are the perfect French treat!

Your three-hour macaron-making experience will take place in a private kitchen, with regular utensils and equipment so you can easily make your macarons again at home. Two flavors will be chosen and created by your group out of the following options: chocolate, lemon, raspberry with Tonka bean, coconut with milk chocolate, or coffee.

At the end of your class, you will take away a box of macaroons and a copy of the recipe to share with your friends back home (or keep all to yourself!).

Baking macaroons with Chef Marthe was amazing. My 13 year old granddaughter loves to bake, so I thought this would be a perfect Paris experience, and it was. Chef Marthe was delightful! She kept things at a level even a novice could understand. Can't wait to go back and take another class from her!

Marthe was a gem. A true gift of a chef and teacher. She embraced my daughter 8 and I in a way we will forever remember. I would HIGHLY recommend this experience, of my six weeks in Paris it is the best event we have attended.
