On this intimate small-group tour of a Paris boulangerie (bakery), you'll go behind the scenes and explore the production rooms where French pain (bread), gateaux (cakes) and patisseries (pastries) are made.

Your knowledgeable bakery guide will explain how to make the famous French baguette and will demonstrate how the machines work. In a warm and relaxed atmosphere, the baker will give you plenty of bread-making tips and will tell you about the bread history.

Far from a factory with industrial methods, the French bakery you’ll visit is a typical small and independent Parisian production unit. Your bakery guide is a skilled artisan craftsman who has a real passion for every aspect of French baking. In addition to your newly acquired baking knowledge, you'll also take home a freshly baked French baguette and a croissant! Any children on the tour will receive a complimentary pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant).

I really enjoyed this tour. I met Natalie at the bakery who gave me the tour and was also my interpreter since I don't speak French. I was the only one that day! She was really nice as were all the employees at the bakery. It's a very small space, and frankly I thought they might be a bit annoyed to have 2 extra people. But they were extremely nice and responsive, answering any questions we had. And happy. Watching them work I could see it is a very physical job and they're on their feet the whole time. The bakery I met at was within walking distance of Sacre Coure, and you leave with a bagette and croissant. Reasonably priced as well. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are a foodie, like seeing how things are made, and like to see behind the scenes of a functioning operation. Thank you Natalie and to the bakery and staff as well.

We highly recommend this tour! Our tour was of an authentic Boulangerie near Montparnasse. This boulangerie demonstrated baking techiniques for a variety of baguettes, breads, rolls, croissants, as well as pizzas, quiche, ham and cheese rolls and sweet pastry's éclairs, macaroons, cookies and glazed petite pastry's. We started the tour with our bi-lingual guide on the first floor where the baker demonstrated making all types of savory breads, croissants and how a baguette is rolled out and shaped. As the baker worked, our tour group had the opportunity to ask questions with the guide asking our questions in French to the baker. The baker was happy to answer questions and would often go out of his way to add additional information that could help us understand the preparation or baking methods of the breads. After spending time learning about breads, our guide took us downstairs to watch the pastry bakers at work. We learned the pastry's are made downstairs as it is cooler and upstairs gets too hot and can cause the delicate pastry's to not rise. What stood out about this tour was being able to watch the bakers first hand as they created such special breads and pastry's. I am not a foodie, but would highly recommend this tour to a friend. It was educational and fun to watch the bakers move quickly, efficiently and almost harmoniously create the golden breads and glazed pastry's. An unexpected touch was that after the tour, each person in our group received a fresh baked baguette and a pastry! One helpful hint is to wear comfortable shoes. You will be standing for the entire tour and there is a very narrow staircase to go downstairs to see the pastry bakers.
