See all the world class attractions of Phillip Island in one day on this small group eco tour from Melbourne. Get up close to koalas and other Australian animals at the Moonlit Sanctuary Conservation Park. Then, indulge yourself with wine tasting at The Phillip Island Winery and savor a range of Gippsland's cheeses. The highlight of your Phillip Island experience will begin at dusk as you watch the fairy penguins waddling up the beach into their burrows in the sand dunes. Traveling in a small group, maximum 24 people, will allow you to explore all that Phillip Island has to offer in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere.

Please note: as of April 1, 2017 you will no longer visit Phillip Island Winery and will instead enjoy an extended stay at Moonlit Sanctuary for the 'Conservation in Action' wildlife show and a 30-minute stop at the Brighton Beach bathing boxes.

Your first stop on Phillip Island is the Moonlit Sanctuary Conservation Park, where you'll learn about a broad range of Australian wildlife. You'll have a chance to get up close to cuddly koalas and other animals for feeding time.

Afterward, enjoy a wine tasting at the Phillip Island Winery. The winery is set in a beautiful rural location with views over Bass Strait and Berry’s Beach. Enjoy a personalized guided tour and indulge in the tastes of various cheeses and other local products including olives, olive oils, honey, chutney and cherries to match the locally produced wines.

Continue to the southwestern tip of the island to enjoy panoramic views of the Nobbies, a group of rugged rocks rising from the sea, and Seal Rocks, the home of Australia's largest fur seals population.

At dusk every evening the world's smallest penguins waddle ashore after spending the day fishing out at sea. You will be seated in the main viewing area to watch the parade of waddling penguins. To make this experience even more unforgettable, upgrade to either the Penguins Plus or the Private Penguin Parade Experience. See below for more details.

Please note: As of April 1, 2017 you will visit Brighton Beach bathing boxes on the journey out of Melbourne for approximately 30-minutes. You will also enjoy an extended stay at Moonlit Sanctuary for the daily 'Conservation in Action' wildlife show; a 30-minute experience which provides insight into lesser-known native species including the spotted quoll, the dingo, the tawny frogmouth and the barking owl. You will no longer visit the Phillip Island Winery from April 1, 2017.

Despite rain, my husband and I had a great time on this tour. Feeding the kangaroos at the Moonlit sanctuary was a highlight in addition to seeing the penguins. I'd highly recommend investing in the ranger guided tour. You get the best seats that way. Most importantly, Alex was a great driver and tour guide. He choose good music to match up with the leg off the trip that we were on. He was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. I'd highly recommend this tour!

Phillip Island Penguin Parade. One of the most amazing experiences ever. Walking on a boardwalk down toward the sea - black volcanic rock, deep tourquoise water, huge waves crashing on the rocks, sun setting over my shoulders. Then to the viewing platform. The sun slowly going down - a few beaks sticking above the water. Oh turn around - a solitary wallaby chewing on some vegetation half-way up the hill behind us. A few minutes later 4-5 kangaroos wallabies maybe, hopping across the top of the hill. Back to the beach.

About a dozen or so of the little penguins aka fairy or blue penguins emerge from the waves and congregate on the sand. They're coming.... no wait- with the next big wave, they go back under. Getting darker and harder to see the beach. Waves come in and the group of penguins gets bigger with each wave. Finally as the sun fades for good, a group of at least 100 of the little birds form a group and start waddling they don't have knees up the beach and over the rocks right toward the viewing platform. They weigh about 1kg each and are about 8-10 tall. They are used to the humans, seemingly. They are so close. We walk back along the boardwalk and they are within inches of us, making cooing, purring sounds calling their mate tending a nest back at the burrow. The hills are dark and in the silence when people shut up all up and down the hill you hear these little soft bird calls through the darkness. Almost toward the end of the walk, mom and dad feeding a couple of chicks....
Driver Chris was great. Tapes of 80's pop entertained. Also stops at Moonlit Sanctuary and Phillip Island winery.
