A shore excursion to the Acropolis is a great way to spend your time in port in Athens. The Syntagma Metro Station, in Syntagma Square where your Acropolis walking tour begins, contains many archaeological artifacts including ancient grave stones, an aqueduct from the 5th century BC, pottery, a 2,000-year-old beehive and a mosaic from the 5th century AD.
As you walk through Syntagma Square, the heart of the city, you’ll see the impressive Greek Parliament House (Old Royal Palace).
Continue strolling through the historical part of the city. A 10-minute walk up the beautiful Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian walkway will bring you to the Acropolis, crowned by the Parthenon, with its spectacular views over the city below.
You will enjoy an insightful and detailed explanation of the history of the Acropolis and its monuments from your knowledgeable licensed guide. On the way to the Acropolis, you will also see the Zeus Temple, the Zappeion Hall, Dionysious Sanctuary, Philopapos Hill, the Herodion Theatre and Mars Hill.

The tour guide was excellent. His knowledge of the history of ancient Greece was amazing. He did not hurry through the tour and allowed us time to see things and take in the atmosphere.
