  • Day trip (destination A to B)
  • Hotel pickup included
  • Led by a Blue Badge guide

Board a coach in central London in the morning, pop in your state-of-the-art Vox headphones and relax on the drive out of the busy city and into the scenic English countryside. Enjoy clear, crisp commentary about the sights from your guide, piping straight into your personal earbuds, adjusting the volume to your preferences. On the way, you’ll drive through Greenwich, home of the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian, where the world’s time is set.

Arrive at Leeds Castle before the crowds arrive for a tour of the 12th-century castle and grounds.
Leeds Castle is picture-perfect, set in a shimmering lake and surrounded by idyllic greenery that spans 500 acres (202 hectares). Inside, admire a superb collection of medieval furniture and tapestries and Impressionist art, and learn how the castle has traded hands over the centuries. Stop by the bird aviary and try your hand at the castle's popular maze formed by towering hedges.

Next, head to Canterbury Cathedral, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage–listed Gothic church built in the 11th century. Canterbury Cathedral is
considered the birthplace of English Christianity, so it comes with some fascinating history. With your Vox headphones, your guide has the unique privilege of leading your large group into the quiet cathedral for a tour of the treasures that lie inside.

Re-board the coach for a drive through the Kent countryside, known as the Garden of England, with its quaint villages and pretty landscapes. Reach the coast to admire the White Cliffs of Dover — towering chalk-white cliffs overlooking the historic English Channel. Visit the Battle of Britain Memorial and learn why this site is so symbolic for the English, and look up to see England's largest castle, Dover Castle, looming on the hilltop.

After a day full of sightseeing, arrive back in London in the evening.

Great trip. Extra time in Canterbury would have been better.

Excellent day out! Great locations and well organized itinerary--you get a lot out of the day, with very little dead time on the bus. The guide Debra was excellent and had lots of information for us about the history of Kent and the various sites we went to. She also had good tips for where to eat at each spot and how to get the most out of each site. My only complaint is that the departure was very disorganized. Evan Evans has about 10 tours leaving at the same time from Victoria Coach station, all through about 2 or 3 cramped gates. They kept switching gates on people and there was no PA system to tell people where to go or what was boarding next. It meant we all stood in a big, cramped lump pushing forward to hear what the guide at the door was shouting and then pushing back when it wasn't our turn. Meanwhile, half of regular London is just trying to get on their regular commuter busses and tromping past confused, cramped tourists. Debra's calm demeanour and well organized itinerary saved the day but Evan Evans needs to do better with its first impression! As an aside, Leeds Castle is amazing and well set up for families. If you have a bit more time, or are thinking about doing a country day out of London, consider staying over night or spending an entire day there--lots to do and many of the visitors were Britons themselves so it's a chance to interact with locals more than you do at most tourist sites where you really only talk to other tourists.
