Continuing over the Hartside Pass, the tour reaches the English Lake District and the picturesque market town of Keswick, your base for the next two nights. After checking into your traditional English B&B you have free time to explore this charming town with its traditional shops and Victorian museum.

Departing after breakfast, you will visit the mysterious Castlerigg standing stones before continuing to beautiful lakeside village of Ullswater. Next stop is the famous Lake Windermere, where you may choose to take a leisurely cruise or enjoy a leisurely lunch while enjoying views of the mountains and lakes. Later explore the quaint villages of Hawkeshead and Grasmere, so admired by poet William Wordsworth, before returning to Keswick in the late afternoon.

You will be collected from your B&B and driven through the Whinlatter Forest Park to reach the Honister mountain pass. In the afternoon, continue through the forests of Borrowdale, passing Derwent Water before returning to Keswick where there is free time for afternoon tea and shopping.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with James D. We found his friendliness and sense of humor engaging as we formed our little community over the three days together. While we had some rather high-maintenance fellow travelers, James went out of his way to make on the fly adjustments to our itinerary, making it a valuable experience for our entire group.
For us, we chose this tour as an entre to the Lake District, as we had plans to rent a car and immediately return for a week after the tour ended. I am glad we did this, as it gave a good overview of the area and helped us to prioritize the locations we wanted to visit and re-visit.
The local tour company should be a first choice if you are considering a small guided tour anywhere within Scotland or the Lake District. Excellent customer service and value.
