Many of Munich's buildings carry the secrets of a dark past. Just six decades ago, Munich bore the official title, Hauptstadt der Bewegung, the Capital of the Nazi Movement. This was the city that the Allied Supreme Commander General Eisenhower called 'the cradle of the Nazi beast'. Find out why on this fascinating walking tour.

- Explore the local streets on a walking tour of the city
- Informative, friendly and professional guide
In a unique and fascinating tour, our dedicated guide will open up this hidden history for you. We'll show you the beer-halls which hosted the first small gatherings of the fanatics who one day would lead the Third Reich, and the place where Hitler made his first major speeches. We'll walk you through the streets where Hitler and his brownshirts fought their way to power.
The irony is that while much of central Munich was devastated by Allied bombing, many Nazi buildings survived and still stand today. Standing alongside them are memorials to the city's many victims of Nazism, including those who sacrificed their lives in opposing its hateful ideology. We'll show you all these sites and give you the story.

Our English guide, Jeff, made this tour truly outstanding! He is a great storyteller, able to infuse wit and humour into what is undeniably a sad chapter for humanity as a whole, and his command of historical facts/figures/dates is nothing short of remarkable. Our visit to Munich was undoubtedly enhanced by this tour, as we were able to put into perspective the myriad of sights that pummel your visual senses here. Jeff's scrapbook of historical photos truly added to the experience!
Our tour was conducted on an extremely cold day, and Jeff was very accommodating when we suggested to take a warm-up coffee in a local cafeteria - while thus warming up, Jeff continued to pass on to us his wealth of local historical data - and then we continued with the historical walk once rejuvenated - Thanks again Jeff for being so flexible on the tour timings with us!
I HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone visiting Munich.

Very knowledgeable guide who made this tour really interesting. I'd never really thought about Hitler before the war or how he came to be in power. This was the story of his years in Munich and his rise to power. We heard about his life in the army and how he came to be a member of the Socialist Worker's party and we saw the buildings where meetings were held, where he worked and where all the planning took place. As part of the tour we visited Marienplatz, Odeonsplatz, the Hofbrauhaus, Haus der Kunst and The English Garden.
Do this tour early in your stay so you can go back to the places you like best and spend more time in them.
