Discover Old Town Krakow and the Kazimierz district on this walking tour with a guide, who will give you the rundown on Krakow’s long history. From Rynek Glówny (Main Square) to Mariacki (St Mary’s Basilica), you’ll see Krakow’s top historical sights. This tour is limited to 20 people, ensuring a small-group experience.

Highlights

  • Explore the local streets on a walking tour of the city
  • Led by a local guide
  • Small-group tour
After making your own way to Krakow Old Town, meet your guide at St Adalbert Church to begin your walking tour. Spend a minute admiring the 11th-century St Adalbert, one of the oldest stone churches in Poland, and then follow your guide across Rynek Glówny, the city’s main square and the largest medieval town square in Europe at 10 acres (4 hectares).

Marvel at the square’s design, which was created in 1257, as you walk to the northeast corner, where you'll see the Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady (St Mary's Basilica), better known in these parts as the Mariacki. You may even hear the hejnal (bugle call) from the top of the taller of St Mary's two towers.

Next head to the center of the square, dominated by Cloth Hall, originally designed for the medieval rag trade. Walk inside the hall, where you’ll pass by the craft stalls before heading to Jagiellonian University, established in 1364 by Casimir III the Great. It is the oldest university in Poland and the second oldest in Central Europe.

After touring around Old Town, enjoy a quick break to rest and try out some of the best coffees and Polish desserts the city has to offer.

Afterward, head to the Kazimierz district to see the Jewish synagogues and cemetery, and learn more about the history of the area. Continue to Wolnica Square to see Corpus Christi Church, a gothic structure with a baroque interior.

From Kazimierz, return to Old Town, ending your tour beneath the Wawel Castle.
