long trip but everything is fine.Reviewed by: Özge K, October 2013
Overall, the tour was good. Minus is that the guide on the way to Granada was speaking on three languages, so sometime we missed something that we were passing on the way to Granada.Reviewed by: Maks S, November 2013
ALhambra was spectacular. Xavier the tour guide from Seville was excellent. Maria the tour guide at Alhambra was charming and knowledgeable. The day was too long, and the organization poor. I was told to be outside ready for pickup at 6:30AM. I was picked up at 7:50AM. I was returned to my hotel at 8:50PM. Next time I would rent a car and take an audioguide.Reviewed by: Leif B, October 2013
I was informed at the start of the tour that the driver on our bus was on his first day with the company. I was surprised to find that the driver did not know the way to Granada, taking at least two wrong turnings before we reached the city. On arrival in the city, it became clear that the driver did not have a clue how to get around. Amazingly, neither did the guide! Who thought to team up a novice driver with a guide who did not know the city? Instead of having two hours for lunch and a tour of the Albacin, we had to choose between lunch or the tour.
During the drive to Granada I would have expected the guide to give us information about our environment. Instead we had a few general announcements and then the guide retired to deal with his paperwork and his mobile phone. Attempts to ask questions were put off.
The afternoon at the Alhambra redeemed the experience. A professional and knowledgeable guide made the tour an absorbing one. The pace was good and the guide dealt very effectively with the dual language nature of the tour.
Sadly, after the tour was over we were herded, literally herded, back to the bus as it was apparent that the tour guide had a pressing need to get back to Seville. The journey back was quicker, but again the guide spent the time on his mobile phone and planning a route for the driver when we got back to Seville. This planning was to enable the guide to leave the bus as soon as we reached Seville, leaving most of the party to trust that the drive could find his way. Fortunately he did manage to do so.
This is not a criticism of the driver who did his best in a situation for which he was ill prepared. The company should have provided better pre service training. The guide was ineffective and seemed to see his role as that of a sheepdog. One example of his lack of knowledge for his job. When asked the name of the mountain range on the horizon he replied that he did not know! Worth doing only because of the Alhambra tour.Reviewed by: Anna M, October 2013
The Granada experience was fantastic and well worth doing. However the organisation of the tour there left a bit to be desired. While I understand the need to ensure that people are given every chance to be on the tour to have 28 people have to wait over 30 minutes for 2 people who weren't able to get up on time is a bit silly. Splitting the group into two separate touring parties at the Palace was also questionable as it was predictable that one group would come back later than the other ... In this case 40 minutes. End result the supposed 3 hours in Granada was cut short to less than 90 minutes. Far better to do this tour as a small group.Reviewed by: David H, October 2013
