We were blessed with fabulous weather and from the moment we boarded the ship were made to feel very welcomed by the friendly crew.
There were comfortable rooms with huge windows to capture the wonderful scenery , more food than any one could wish for, snacks, afternoon tea, nibbles and huge range of choices for dinner.
The crew led by the captain were all friendly and caring to cater for our every need.
Could not have wished for more . A great way to spend a night in a beautiful setting... Pauline
This was a totally enjoyable experience. We travelled by coach to Paihia and were transferred to Ipipiri for a delightful sail around the Bay of Islands. Afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast were all of a very high standard. The crew on the boat were friendly and professional. Activities, for those inclined, looked great. On return to Paihia there was plenty of time to explore, visit the Treaty Grounds before returning to Auckland by coach.Reviewed by: joan, April 2013
It was a long bus trip from Auckland to Opua but well worth it. The boat and its crew did a great job despite some equipment problems. The main improvement they might make would be to add a bit of entertainment for the evening session (even a movie would do). Also, the boat returned to Opua at about 10.00 am but the bus didn't leave Paihia until 4.30 pm so perhaps the tour should be expanded to include a visit to some other nearby attraction (e.g. Russell or the Waitangi site).Reviewed by: Matthew A, April 2013
Great, everyone should do this.
One thing that was silly the photographer took one picture of us on the dock before the boat. Then we were expected to buy a pack with only one photo of us and we were not even on the boat.
This trip was amazing, I strongly recommend it. It was beautiful.Reviewed by: Shirene A, January 2013
This was a great trip.
The Ipipiri is a very comfortable craft, with nice beds in the cabins and several areas on the decks for relaxing and enjoying the view.
The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful and the food was good too.
We enjoyed cruising in the islands and did various water activities, like kayaking and snorkelling and encountered a playful pod of dolphins off the bow.
The coach to and from Paihia was comfortable so we were not tired.
Very relaxing, I recommend it.
This was an amazing trip! My husband and I went on this overnight cruise and recommend it very highly. The only thing we didn't get to see was the Hole in the Rock. We booked another quick trip out to see it, which helped us to realize the amazing deal we got on this overnight trip. So well worth it! It was one of the highlights of our NZ trip! I would absolutely recommend this!Reviewed by: Tammy P, April 2012
Amazing time! My husband and I had wonderful weather whilst on this cruise, it was a perfect added bonus to our itinerary, we met some lovely people and the crew were fantastic. The captain was very friendly and informal and made everyone feel welcome. Highly recommended! Cabins are also just right and equipped to a high standard.Reviewed by: Jennifer S, April 2012

What a trip...This is worth every cent. The bay of islands is beautiful. The boat was fantastic. The crew ,food and the whole experience they gave us was magical. We were picked up from our hotel in Auckland and taken on a beautiful 3-4 hour scenic tour through the mountains to Pahia and then embarked on the boat. After traveling through to various islands we canoed to a magical beach and snorkeled for a few hours. Upon returning to the boat a magical afternoon snack was waiting. That evening we traveled further within the bay of islands and a food buffet was set for us all. The cabins are fantastic with huge king beds and cater for everything. The following morning a buffet breakfast was served and we found a huge pod of dolphins and followed them for around an hour. After more scenic island travel we arrived back at Pahia and had the afternoon to ourselves. A HINT..When you do get to Pahia take a cab or tuk tuk to the treaty grounds, it is superb and beautiful. We then took the boat across to Russell and spent the afternoon wandering and relaxing...great place to eat and look. HINT..Check out the old cemetery..After returning from Russell we loaded ourselves back on the bus for our scenic return trip to Auckland. This has to be the best value for money trip around. You are picked up from your hotel and delivered back to your hotel included in the total price. We were gone from 6:45 Thursday morning and arrived back to our hotel Friday night at 8:30. The staff and food and the whole experience is the best I have ever had. All for a cost of $254.Reviewed by: hoolio, January 2012
