Nice tour

Very interesting and weel worth the time. Our guide directed the tour in three languages, which was amazing.

These churches are beautiful and our guide would describe her own experience with faith. A real sincere delivery. She walks fast though and sure enough we lost someone along the way. This was right before the second bus pick-up. Oh well, all roads lead to Rome. I guess they retrieved their stufff off the bus later that night because we left after doing a couple of searches.

We booked the "Christian Rome Afternoon Tour", which included a bus ride and tour of the following: the Catacombs of Santa Domitilla, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore,and the Basilica of St John in Lateran, the cathedral of Rome.

We really enjoyed this tour; a bus tour in the afternoon was the perfect break after a long morning of walking around the National Museums. Our guide Anna provided wonderful insights during the ride of numerous sites as we passed them, and she was our primary guide when we toured the 2 Basilicas and the Holy Stairs near St. Johns. The Catacombs have their own tour gudies, and ours was again very informative and easy to understand.

The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 was the time constraint at the Basilicas. However I think this was driven primarily by a transit strike that day, which added to the normal heavy Roman traffic. Unfortunately we felt a bit rushed trying to take in these spectacular sights.

I was concerned at first as the tour company was located in a side street close to the main railway station then the driver and guide seemed to be having a disagreement over the route to take. Eventually all worked out well with the visit to the catacombs and then the Basilica of St John and the church of St Mary Major. The Sacred Stairs was an awesome experience. My one real gripe was that we couldn't visit one area due to a service taking place. The tour people should know the timings of services at the churches that they are visiting and the route should be synchronized with these timings so as to avoid them. Good value tour, though and I would recommend, however I would also like to point out that the hotel pickup arrangement is a bit confusing and needs to be arranged better.

Our tour guide, Vanessa, was absolutely spectacular in her knowledge, and friendliness! I always wanted to see the Catacombs, and this tour provided me that opportunity, as well as viewing other beautiful churches. Would recommend this. Thank you!
