Well worth the tour to see the beautiful basillica and we managed to get a 'glimpse' of the Black Virgin only as the line up was very long.Reviewed by: JohnRash, Australia, June 2013
Though we had visited Barcelona before we'd manage to miss Montserrat. Having used Viator in the past we decided to sign up for this tour. It was a great decision and a good value.
Out tour was very well organized and led and left right on time. We elected to also purchase the optional cog train ride up to the monastery itself. I was a little let down by the cog train as I was expecting something like the little rickety cog train that takes tourists up to the top of the Jungfrau in Bern Switzerland. This is much more like a comfortable European train. I would still recommend the train option because of the nice photo opportunities offered on the way up.
Expect Montserrat to be busy. We were able to watch a performance of the boy's choir which was very impressive. If you also want to visit the statue of the Black Virgin get in that que ASAP as the line moves very slowly since everyone stops to take a photo or two, etc.
This tour was a nice addition to our stay in Barcelona and I'd recommend it to anyone.Reviewed by: Harry E, June 2013
My husband and I took this tour during our honeymoon stop in Barcelona! It was well worth it to see the views of Monserrat and get out of the city for a few hours, we even got a siesta in on the ride back! Our tour guide was very helpful in explaining the history behind Monterrat as well as that of Barcelona! The views are a must on your trip!Reviewed by: Jennifer D, June 2013
This trip was SO worth our time. There are many trails to hike, and we (luckily) happened to choose one that took about an hour of our time and wasn't too strenuous (of course, that's relative). The paths are made of stone so it's not a good place to hike with a stroller. Better to put the baby in a harness on your back. The vistas are just gorgeous. We opted for the cable car option, which was fun. There are funiculars at the top that take you even higher, if you want to go. We did not choose to do that, and noticed that not very many people did. Consequently, if you want to do that, no lines. We were able to hear the children's choir, which was fun -- if only to say we heard it. They sing two. The cathedral was extremely crowded (standing room only). We stood at the back where we were able to hear well, take some photos, and we left before the end of the 2nd hymn -- thus allowing us to hit the bathrooms before the rest of the crowd came tumbling out. The gift shop is large and extensive. All in all, a good use of our time.Reviewed by: Jan M, June 2013
Amazing Church and views of the country side from Montserrat.Reviewed by: Steve P, June 2013
You know I keep saying the same thing it seems with all these tours, fantastic scenery and mountains that we have never seen before. The guide was very informative and we had ample time at Montserrat to take pictures and walk around. We loved this place and the tour allowed you to see it in a way that left you very impressed and informed with the area. Great tour all around.Reviewed by: Lise V, June 2013

Loved it; only thing is I would've preferred more time to look around. I wasn't able to bring back as much cheese as I would've liked but the samples were amazing. The views are spectacularReviewed by: Marlene B, June 2013
It's a must do trip!Reviewed by: ava804, June 2013
Tour group was much smaller than expected (2 couples) allowing the guide to provide individual responses to questions. Ample time allotted for all sights including 15 minute line for Black Madonna. Guide was knowledgeable and responsive, bus driver professional, and overall trip was well worth cost.Reviewed by: paul w, May 2013
