Great trip our guide was knowledgeable and very likeable. Lunch was fabulous, food and atmosphere. Riding along the grounds of Versailles was a highlight of my trip. Warning, this trip sounds like an easy ride around the grounds then off to see the palace. The day I was there the weather was perfect, sunny, and not to hot....by the time we made it to the palace we were physically exhausted and tired, we enjoyed the palace but were to tired to take on the gardens. We opted not to leave with the group, found a great people watching pub had a couple of beers, regained our strength then headed home. This was a top notch tour that I would do again.Reviewed by: Suzanne T, USA, April 2014
It's a great tour. You meet at the office and catch the train to Versailles as a group. The market you stop at to pick up picnic supplies is amazing, especially on the weekends. It's nice to do Versailles by bicycle because you get to see so much more of the grounds than if you were wandering around on foot. It's great if you want to get the most out of your time. Our guides, Peter and Drew (I think), were both very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.Reviewed by: Jessica A, April 2014
Fantastic trip. I loved the history, the stop and food at the market. Our guide Dan was very helpful and considerate. The best was to stop and picnic in the fields, out of this world, delicious food in a magnificent place. You'll love it, just don't do it on Sunday, the castle is too crowded.Reviewed by: Flor P O, April 2014
A beautiful day. Our guide was greatReviewed by: Janine B, April 2014
Rick from Fat Bike Tours was our guide and the day was fabulous. No stress involved at all. Family of three (mom, dad and 10 year old boy). We originally had this scheduled on a rainy day but once we got to the tour company they happily rebooked us for another day that week) *pays to make sure you leave free days in your schedule therefore allowing you to be able to do this type of rescheduling of needed).
Getting there is easy, getting bike simple and away you go to the market to get your picnic food. *they will give you a basket for goodies. Do not miss cheese! Some of the best offerings are available. You have about 45 mins to get goodies.
Then the adventure begins and what an amazing time it was. Rick told great stories and brought it all to life for us. Plenty of kids involved in the day. Our son was thrilled to bike around with other American kids!
Picnic by the water relaxing and getting to know your fellow travelers!
Then off to see Orangee and learn more stories. Biking not strenuous at all (anyone with 2 good working legs can do it/in fact I preferred it versus walking around this mighty Castles grounds. Inside tour is on your own although you are given the headset. Versailles closes at 6 we were done by 5(after spending 2 hours inside walking around. Taking photos and getting coffee--try the Black and White coffee,! Rick will share the details.). So you bike around for like 4 hours but with lots of stops to work up appetite.
Many of us choose to go back with Rick. He provided good directions and recommendations on eating afterwards.
I would go to Versailles early in the week of you vacation as you will get really familiar with the town and would probably want to go back another day. Sadly for us it was our last day so we couldn't return...but there is always the next time.

This is a must do! Pete is an amazing tour guide and kept us smiling in spite of a rainy and cold start. Such an amazing way to learn so much about French history.Reviewed by: Leigh H, March 2014

Fantastic!Reviewed by: Mark F, March 2014
This tour was amazing. We had our 12 year old son with us and he was the only child on the tour, but he was made to feel most welcome by Costigan our tour guide and all the other participants. The palace and its grounds along with the town of Versailles are spectacular. The bikes are so easy to ride, that any one can do it. We would highly recommend this tour and would do it again if we came back to Paris.Reviewed by: Kim C, January 2014
