Shannon, our guide (from Alabama, US, of all places!) was knowledgeable and charming. She had extensive knowledge of the Vatican museum's history and knew how to tell stories, which she did in abundance!
This tour is highly recommended for history, architecture and art lovers everywhere!Reviewed by: Dror, February 2014
Fantastic tour and great value for money. The tour guide Valerie was fantastic. To see the Vatican museums without taking a tour is not to see them at all. Everything about this tour was enjoyable and professional. Make sure you climb to the top of St. Peter's too!Reviewed by: Michael O, February 2014
I would definitely reccommend booking this tour.
Our guide was from Rome and spoke perfect english and was extremely knowledgable. Her delivery made the tour alive and fun. There were 10 in our group so good not too large. We would have missed so much if we had tried to do this tour ourselves. We were given headsets so we could hear our guide perfectly. Not queuing and fast tracking ensured the whole 3 hours packed and not wasted.
Well done Viator - another successful trip booked through you!
Absolutely first-class all the way. Guide was a little too carried away with his own opinions and could easily offend the devout, but he was knowledgeable, funny, quick, and passionate about the Vatican and its treasures. One of the best buys out of the five tours we bought. Highly recommend. Even had 15 minutes to commune in the Sistine Chapel, which was crowded but very quiet. The entire complex is a testament to what faith of the common people can build.Reviewed by: Jane A, February 2014
This is a NOT to miss tour. Our guide Tiffany was excellent, knew her stuff and made it interesting. Sadly the time flew by even though initially I did wonder if it may have been to long. In addition our friends asked on our arrival if they could also join us and this process was done quickly with no fuss and they also loved the tour. We did go in January however so booking in advance would be the best option. I had been to the Vatican before but not the Sistine Chapel and Raphael Rooms and would still love to go again. Anyone thinking of doing this tour should book it. Just one thing to note follow the recommendations of things not to take. We did but some didn't and had a long walk back to get their umbrella.Reviewed by: Janine H, February 2014
I had a wonderful time on this tour and would highly recommend it! Not only was it easy to find the meeting spot, but it was awesome to be able to skip the really really long line and immediately enter the Vatican. In addition, my tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Vatican. She was able to point out different aspects of paintings and architecture that I wouldn't have been able to identify otherwise. Although her native language is Italian, her English was very understandable. All in all, great tour!Reviewed by: Joshua B, February 2014
The Guide was a lady born and brought up in Rome with a degree in Art History which meant that she had stacks of expert knowledge on the art and artists that have contributed over the centuries to the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica. She was enthusiastic and entertaining and happy to answer questions on top of the various prepared talks with pictures that she presented during the tour. She was also content to let the tour run over time - with our permission. We were very pleased with the tour.Reviewed by: James M, February 2014
I visited Italy 7 years ago and visited the Vatican, but when I returned in January 2014 with three friends I wanted them to also experience this marvellous place. We easily found the meeting point outside the Vatican and we were very lucky for David to be appointed as our tour guide. His knowledge and his passion for everything related to the Vatican and the history of this amazing sight, was very apparent and refreshing. He showed us all the important sections and shared the history and importance of the Vatican in a very interesting and captivating manner. The Vatican itself is definitely worth the visit (a must-see experience!) and the skip a line part of the tour really does make a massive difference to the time you spend to enter. I would definitely recommend this tour!Reviewed by: Martine J, February 2014
I was totally delighted with this tour. Everything from the meeting point onwards was totally well organised. The guide was very friendly, knowledgable and keen to know what people were interested in so she could provide more detail, if wished. There was generally a very friendly atmosphere and it was good to meet many different people. I will definitely use Viator again and would strongly recommend them.Reviewed by: Sally H, February 2014
I really appreciate Davids knowledge about the premises. I was so happy he did not rush our time and had a sense of humor in a very cold and wet day. He seemed like a young Sherlock Holmes with a enthusiastic approach to the Vatican and its history as well as how all this fits in the scheme of things in today's age.
