Really a fanastic day. We are normally the DIY type of travelers, but opted for this tour. The Viator guide (Mike from California) was absolutely fantastic with his knowledge of ancient history and humor. The bus leave Rome early and an hour and a half later stops at a "rest area" which is clearly designed for tour buses. Nice, clean place for a "pit stop" and a coffee but amazing how much useless stuff the Asian tourists can buy.
Another hour or so and the bus stops near Pompeii for lunch at a place again designed for tour buses. Our expecations were a bit low but the pizza was AWESOME!

Just a first class tour. Julianne was a great guide as well as the guide of Pompeii who I can remember name - he was fantastic. The tour of Vesuvius was great but you better be in shape ,which I'm glad we were, to make the steep hike. Recommend highly. Oh yea order the "margarita" pizza for lunch

This tour was the best we did while in Italy. We were lucky and had a beautiful, clear day for our tour. It was absolutely AMAZING to walk through the ancient cobblestone streets and peek into the lives of this ancient civilization. Walking past the bakeries, the take out restaurants, through the brothel and the bath house, walking up and sitting on the ampitheater seats like they did to watch a performance - all of this was absolutely overwhelming. Our Pompeii tour guide Gianni brought this all to life for us, particularly in how he told the stories of ancient life. In addition to the tour of Pompeii we hiked up Mt. Vesuvius. We were surprised by this because during March Vesuvius is usually closed to tours and you tour the Museum. We got lucky. It took us about 30 minutes to hike up the mountain. The hiking path was clear but it was REALLY cold and windy so dress accordingly. When we got to the top we were able to look into the crater, watch the steam rise and appreciate the beauty of the scenic surroundings. Breath taking to say the least. An absoutely AMAZING day all around. The tour director on the bus, who just didn't get the value of silence and the value of sharing information that is relevant (instead of bombarding us with irrelevant information that had nothing to do with the tour), could have been better but she didn't detract from the day's experience. This tour is a MUST. So glad we booked it!

Our guide, David, was superb. Full of interesting information that was easy to listen to. I was thrilled to walk on a live volcano and one so infamous. The pizza in Naples was absolutely delicious. The ruins of Pompeii were fascinating and older and in much better condition than Rome's. The only disappointment was the weather. Cloud on Mt. Vesuvius kept us from seeing anything but the ground beneath our feet (not even the crater when I stood right next to it) and we got drenched with rain in Pompeii.

Our teenaged daughter said that this was her favorite part of our visit to Italy. Our tour guide, Robert, was very knowledgeable and informative. We weren't able to go to the top of the volcano because of weather, but the museum in Naples (aka "Plan B") was very interesting. We would highly recommend this tour.

Besides Pompeii site been one of those places you have to visit as it is so unique, all staff (driver, local guide and tour coordinator) were very gentle and nice! At lunch we could have a more choices of pizza, but the margarita was just fine.
