5 star rating: Highly Recommended

The best experience of my trip to Venice. Fun and useful ('useful' isn't something that you'd expect out of a holiday, is it?). Walking around Castello with Mario gives you first practical information about your camera (do you really know your camera?), tips about composition and photography in general plus interesting knowledge about the city and its inhabitants.
Definitely worth it!

Marco was a great and experienced photographer and tour guide. Loved seeing his Arsanale neighborhood and learning what it was like to be a true Venetian

Mario was knowledgeable and patient with a novice photographer. He gave helpful suggestions for making better photos, but he introduced us to a side of Venice most don't see, along with some interesting people..a model shipbuilder, and an elderly man who makes Pinnocchio dolls. The neighborhood we visited was uncrowded and historic. A wonderful day.

3 star rating: Worth doing

Worth doing if you have a really good camera. I would suggest that you give a specific idea of what you want to photograph as we ended up with lots of photos of parts of buildings. We did pick up some tips we used afterwards, such as framing and positioning yourself to see the best photo plus taking portraits. We also visited quiet parts of Venice. Our favourite place was the quirky Aqua Alta bookshop.
