Your tour continues into the Fontainebleau Forest and through the village of Barbizon, famous since the 19th century thanks to artists such as Millet, Rousseau and Stevenson. There is no stop in the village of Barbizon but a chance to admire the landscapes on the drive through to the next stop, the Castle of Vaux le Vicomte.
This Chateau was Nicolas Fouquet's masterpiece which inspired Louis 14th to build the Palace of Versailles and launched the careers of landscape gardener Andre le Notre and decorator Charles le Brun. After lunch at Vaux le Vicomte (included) you'll take an audio-guided tour of the chateau's main rooms. Your small group full-day trip from Paris by minivan ends with time to stroll through the castle's gardens and visit the carriage museum.

What can I say? This was the best day of our vacation! We had gone to Versailles the day before and were so disappointed. These 2 Chateaus and their gardens were so much better! The lunch was superb and the 4 other travelers we were with (2 from Australia, 2 from Wisconsin) were a lot of fun. Wish we could have spent a half hour more in Barbizon and a half hour less at Fontainebleau though. Then it would have been perfect! Our guide Natasha was wonderful too. She was very informative about the history of each Chateau. Would recommend to all my friends and family as a must do!
