Day 1: Shaolin Temple

After pickup from your Xi’an hotel, head to the Xi’an North Railway Station to take the fast train to Luoyang. Afterwards, a scenic 2-hour drive through gorgeous valleys will bring you to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Shaolin Temple. Take a guided tour of the temple to see its impressive halls like the Guanyin Hall, containing frescoes of fighting Shaolin monks. Then, watch a live kung fu performance and witness an incredible display of concentration and skill, with stunts such as breaking a metal bar with bare hands!

As this is a private tour, the time you eat meals is flexible, depending on when you finish sightseeing. They can be enjoyed at local restaurants (at your own expense).

Overnight: 3- to 4-star hotel in Luoyang

Day 2: Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple, Luoyang Museum

After enjoying a complimentary breakfast, you will be driven approximately 30 minutes to the Longmen Grottoes, where many Buddhist sculptures are delicately carved from caves next to the Yi River. With your guide, explore the site’s Fengxian Temple and the Wanfo Cave, all of which hold various ancient artifacts and feature intricate decors.

Re-board the minivan for another scenic 30-minute drive to the White Horse Temple, considered the first Buddhist temple in China. Walk around inside the temple with your guide and admire the intricate architecture of the Hall of the Great Buddha and the Hall of Heavenly Kings. Then, continue to the Luoyang Museum, exhibiting various folk art collections from China’s Zhou period. Tour the museum and get an insight into the rich heritage of the region.

At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to the Longmen Train Station for the fast train back to Xi’an. A private minivan will be waiting for you to transport you to your Xi’an hotel.
