This was a excellent tour but it is a long day. I would reccommend that you look outside the main square for food and chocolates as the prices are dearer anywhere around the main square. We found good food (waffles) and chocolates in the smaller surrounding streets. Also you can obtain and tourist map for free from the town hall in the main square which will help you get around.

A Day trip may be too short to really appreciate Bruges. The bus trip form Amsterdam is pleasant and the guide Pedro was very professional and informative. The departure from Amsterdam was chaotic - very poor managing of the group and no information given - just a milling herd on a pavement until teh dash to teh bus ( across teh street). The town is spectacular. The canal cruise is a must. Food is expensive in teh retsaurants and not worth the price. Walking around by yourself is great - but one feels you need a bit more time . A train trip from Amsterdam may allow you more time - to have 84 other people with you seems just too crowded.
