Very enjoyable day. We stopped at the amazing chocolate factory. Make sure you pay that little bit extra to see the penguins. I sat on the beach front row and you watch these little penguins come out of the water right in front of you and waddle up the sand. By paying the extra you get your own small guided tour. They give you a cushioned seat to also sit on the sand and then take you down the boardwalk to see the penguins going into their burrows explaining things along the way.

This tour is awesome. It's a full day, but worth it. With a short stay in Melbourne, this is a perfect way to see a few different places.

The penguin part of this tour was excellent -- something we'd not see on our own. Actually arrival at the Penguin site is very much time constrained (one needs to arrive just before dusk). So the tour fills up the day with other things (chocolate factory, wine tour and the like). I believe that a better approach here would be one just focused on the penguin tour -- leaving at say 3PM in the day instead of the morning. The full tour makes for a very long day with some (at least for us) extraneous other activities.

Also, the tour bus itself was aging and a bit uncomfortable, loud window rattle and limited seating space. That added to the seeming length of the trip.

The guide was quite good. If we have the option again though, we'll be on the lookout for a Penguin only tour.

One plus with the bus -- it was a small group tour -- we saw the large busses -- would not even consider going on them.

Pickup and dropoff was just as expected and this was a plus.
