Ettal Monastery and Zugspitze Day Tour from Munich
- Enjoy a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city
- Enjoy fantastic aerial views
After your visit of the monastery, you will head to the highest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze which soars to 9,788 feet (2,962 meters). From Eibsee, you take the cable car to the summit of the mountain where, on a clear day, you can see the peaks of hundreds of Bavarian Alps mountains in Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
After you have enjoyed the panoramic views from the observation platform, you will descend the mountain onboard the Zugspitzbahn, a cogwheel train.

The bus ride was great. You get to see the countryside of Bavaria. The only bad part was the top of the mountain was fogged over. it's the chance you take when up on top. The views going up were the best you will ever see. Very Beautiful. The lunch was fantastic and the train ride down was just as good as the ride up.

We were very lucky that the weather was very good. At the summit, the visibility was up to 140km.
Everything was good, from the bus ride, to the cable car ride up, to the time spent on the top, and the cog railway down. I took lots and lots of pictures until my camera ran out of battery.
At the summit, there was a short climbing trip holding on to steel cables and bars anchored to the rock. It led you to the cross at the actual summit. It is certainly for those who are more adventurous. It was outside the usual tourist fence, done at your own risk, but certainly added another dimension of fun to the mostly arranged tour.
Because of the good weather, the traffic back to Munich took a little longer. The tour leader was very attentive. Overall it was a very good trip.
