Overnight: Seaside Hotel or similar in Leipzig
Day 3: Dresden -- Annaberg -- Schneeberg -- Plauen (B, D)
Fuel up with breakfast at your hotel before heading out on the country roads to several charming, ancient German towns. Stop in Seiffen, a center of the wooden toy industry, and two ancient miner-villages, Schneeberg and Annaberg.
These towns are typical in the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) and are home to the German tradition of woodcarving and Christmas pyramids. As your guide will explain, in old times, light – represented by candles – was an important symbol of life and safety for miners working in the dark tunnels. The woodcarvers combined their deep religious beliefs and used candles to illuminate the pyramids, and decorated them with saints as symbols of the holy night.
In Annaberg, visit a Christmas market that dates back to 1510, and in Schneeberg, visit St Wolfgang’s Church, whose altar dates back to 1539.
In the afternoon, continue driving to Plauen, famous for its handcrafted lace. Plauen was founded in 1122 and since the 16th century has been an important center for cotton manufacturing. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at your hotel with your fellow travelers.
Overnight: Hotel Dormero or similar in Plauen
Day 4: Plauen -- Bamberg -- Frankfurt (B)
Start your morning with breakfast at your hotel before packing up and traveling through the Franconian forest to the imperial city of Bamberg, founded in the 9th century. See the city's nicely preserved Old Town, which was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see the cathedral and former Benedictine abbey of Michaelsberg.
You'll have time in Bamberg to do some last-minute shopping before heading through the rolling hills of Franconia back to Frankfurt, where your journey ends in the late afternoon.

Great Tour, high standard of hotel accommodation, and very knowlegeable English speaking guide. The Christmas Markets chosen were many and varied.
Four days is the ideal period for this type of Tour, and we particularly liked certian parts of Eastern Germany. Highly recommended.

The Four Day Christmas Delight - Leipzig, Dresden and Plauen Tour was truly wonderful. The guide (Gregory) and Driver (Armin) were superb, both of them were very professional, nice and kind. The castles, churches and old little towns were historical and typical to demonstrate the Eastern Germany styles. I particularly enjoyed the winter wonderland sceneries along the journey from Dresden to Plauen. The German Christmas Markets and beautiful festive decorations were the highlights. The weather was cold and sometimes snowy, lowest was minus 11 degree celcius . Must dress warm enough for this tour! Recommended!
