we really enjoyed the whole day, our driver/guide was great and the time at Monticello
was just what we hoped for. Loved the lunch : )
The trip was well organized and the meal at Michies Tavern was excellent and caught the atmosphere of the period. The only reservation we had was the time taken to get there and back. Virginia is pretty vast compared to most counties in the UK so in fairness no complaints.

Would have loved more time to walk around Monticello. However great day trip.

The trip was fine, the driver entertaining. Our complaint was that there was not enough time to explore the Monticello gardens and grounds. As with other reviews I read, we agree that there was too much time allotted for lunch (which was delicious) especially for those of us not interested in buying trinkets.

Having travelled from Australia my daughter and I were looking forward to our day trip to Monticello. The house, grounds and history was most interesting. However, when we arrived at 8 a.m. we were told as there were only 7 people the trip was cancelled. The 7 of us to pay for the three tickets which would make up the minimum number to allow the trip to proceed. The trip returned to Wahington earlier than stated in the programme although we felt that we did nit have enough time at Monticelllo to enjoy the various tours, etc. We visited another "Inn" - which was interesting - but possibly lessened our time at M. Also we were encouraged to have the set buffet put on at this "Inn" as being the only lunch available. Later we discovered that there was a perfectly nice cafe at Monticello where some of us for various reasons would have preferred to eat. So unfortunately, what could have been a perfectly wonderful day was spoilt by what seemed to be poor management.
