Our guide was amazing. The roman forum was my favourite part and the colosseum was my partner's favourite. The guide was friendly, well informed and really brought the place to life. A must do. You'll see all the sights and more.Reviewed by: Wordsmith, November 2013
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of the sites we visited. She added historical as well as modern day connections for a well rounded understanding of Rome's influences on the world.Reviewed by: Elizabeth C, October 2013
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The guide was both knowledgeable and interesting and we felt the tour was great value for money. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome, especially first time visitors.Reviewed by: Ritchie H, October 2013
Good tour. Understanding the guide who spoke English but with a strong accent made listening via the ear phones a bit strained. We were glad to see that part of Rome - very thorough.Reviewed by: Ben L, November 2013
Not having to wait in line is a significant benefit.
Guide Valentina was friendly, fairly knowledgeable and communicative, but it was very hard to understand her, because of her very strong accent (she puts a superfluous vowel at the end of every word, as in Italian), and also because the audio quality of the radios is poor (high frequencies are lost, lots of static)... like bad AM radio reception.
We saw just a small section of the Roman Forum ruins and then spent fifteen minutes on a long and tiring 45 minute hike across city streets to the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain and the Piazza Navona. It would probably make more sense to use that time to further explore the adjacent Forum areas.
Finally, it is dishonest bait-and-switch marketing to advertise the tour price as one amount, and then mention in fine print that there is a significant additional entrance fee charge. This is not optional, so we have to pay it, so it should be included in the advertised price, not hidden from view to be discovered later. This starts the tour off on a strongly negative note, and makes me feel disinclined to recommend Viator to friends.Reviewed by: Mary A, October 2013
