Head west to Sheung Wan, the core urban area of Hong Kong that still maintains a vibrant environment of past traditions. See Bonham Road, which offers a variety of exotic dried seafood sold on the street, and have free time to roam around Cat Street, where you can do some window shopping or practice your bargaining skills in one of the many antique shops and galleries.

You can do more shopping on Hollywood Road, which boasts of several blocks of shops selling all kinds of bric-a-bracs like Chinese furniture, historical memorabilia, porcelain wares and even funeral items. Hollywood Road is also home to the largest Man Mo Temple in Hong Kong. Step inside this protected monument and be awed by the immense incense spirals hanging from the ceilings and the scattered images of Chinese deities.

Next, see the Central Escalator, the world’s longest covered escalator, spanning more than 2,500 feet (800 meters)! Then put down your camera for a moment to try succulent Southeast Asian fruits like durians and rambutans at one of Hong Kong’s oldest fresh markets.
