4 star rating: Recommended

We loved the opportunity to get to Todos Santos - it was great to get off the Los Cabos "strip" to see other parts of the Baja. The pick-up and drop-off at our resort was efficient and convenient. The tour and lunch at the Hotel California was a real treat. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable. However, he was quite long-winded about the "philosophy" of Todos Santos, and overly friendly with a couple of the shop-keepers. I was uncomfortable being walked into a jewelry story to sample tequila, and his long conversations with the owners of the textile store where we stopped went on far longer than we wanted to shop. It resulted in our not stopping at the Mexican candy store, or a whale watch stop, as had been promised at the beginning of the tour.

3 star rating: Worth doing

Worth doing because it's something you wouldn't get to experience normally, and to see the local atmosphere etc, but the shopkeepers are pushy and I was disappointed that the Hotel California did not have anyone there that spoke English or was interested in telling us the story of the Hotel itself. The tour guide is nice, he leads you through a very basic museum and he is very passionate about telling his stories, but then you are pretty much on your own with not a lot of direction on what to do. The lunch at the restaurant they take you to however is amazing! The food and atmosphere lovely, a hidden gem!
