New England Aquarium Exhibits:
Penguins - Dominating the ground level and containing more than 150,000 gallons of chilled and filtered Boston Harbor water, the penguin exhibit is home to three species of penguins: African penguins, rockhopper penguins and little blue penguins.

Amazing Jellies - Sea jellies - jellyfish as they are often called - are everywhere! Now they invade the New England Aquarium in a colossal exhibit, Amazing Jellies. The 5,000-square-foot exhibit in the Aquarium's West Wing Gallery includes thousands of specimens and a variety of different species of jellies. In addition, the exhibit features other exotic habitats, such as a Palauan Lagoon, and strange creatures, such as the monitor lizard. Edge of the Sea - This hands-on tidepool exhibit recreates the diverse and colorful world where the land meets the sea. The exhibit features a realistic fiberglass rocky shore where visitors can touch some of New England's favorite tidepool dwellers such as sea stars, horseshoe crabs, sea urchins and periwinkles.

The brand-new, state-of-the-art exhibit:
New Balance Foundation Marine Mammal Center

Get ready to get up, get active, get moving and get close to marine mammals this summer with the grand opening of the New Balance Foundation Marine Mammal Center and the launch of the Get Your Feet Wet programs.

Entertaining and engaging programming, along with the new innovative, interactive exhibit space, promote activity and fitness while increasing awareness of marine life and conservation. Draw connections between marine mammals and humans and learn about the challenges marine mammal face in our oceans today. Interact with our charismatic fur seals through daily presentations that highlight animal health, fitness and diet. The new exhibit is specially designed to promote hands-on contact with the animals so you’ll be able to experience marine mammals closer than ever before possible.  

The Center will kick-off with our newest summer theme program exclusively Sponsored by the New Balance Foundation, Marine Mammals in Motion, which serves as your interactive pathway to discovering how healthy living protects both humans and the oceans. Grab your exercise guide upon arrival, and make sure to join our trainers and marine mammal stars for “Fitness Fridays” all summer long. Finally, you will be coached by “Splash” the fitness mascot about how you can as healthy and strong as he is!

Giant Ocean Tank - As one of the world's largest cylindrical saltwater tanks, it offers a multi-level view of the sharks, sea turtles, moray eels, and other tropical fishes that live inside. The tank's center structure represents a Caribbean coral reef. Myrtle, the giant green sea turtle, feels so much at home, you can find her asleep at the bottom for an hour at a time.

Tropical Gallery - Find Nemo while you see colorful clownfish, tangs, lionfish, flashlight fish and live coral.

Aquarium Medical Center - This is the Aquarium's animal hospital, where sick and stranded animals are nursed back to health. The staff cares both for Aquarium residents, and for a variety of animals that have been found stranded on new England's rocky shores, including sea turtles, dolphins and seals. The information learned through caring for these sick animals helps improve the care of all marine mammals.

IMAX Movies Currently Screening:
Dolphins and Whales 3D - Dive into a new immersive and highly emotional adventure with Jean-Michel Cousteau's DOLPHINS AND WHALES 3D. This awe-inspiring documentary film narrated by Daryl Hannah will take you from the dazzling coral reefs of the Bahamas to the warm depths of the waters of the exotic Kingdom of Tonga for a close encounter with the surviving tribes of the ocean.

Wild Ocean 3D - Each year an unbelievable feeding frenzy takes place in the oceans of South Africa as billions of sardines migrate up the KwaZulu-Natal Coast. Wild Ocean captures spectacular breaching whales, feeding sharks, diving gannets, and massive bait balls inside and up close on the giant screen.

Under the Sea 3D - The new IMAX 3D adventure will transport you to some of the most exotic and isolated undersea locations on earth, including Southern Australia, New Guinea and others in the Indo-Pacific region, allowing them to experience face-to-face encounters with some of the most mysterious and stunning creatures of the sea. It offers a uniquely inspirational and entertaining way to explore the beauty and natural wonder of the oceans, as well as the impact of global climate change. In IMAX 3D, the images will literally leap off the screen and float around the theatre, putting the audience in the movie.

Van Gogh: Brush with Genius - leads viewers on a journey through the surprisingly short 9-year period of the artist's career during which he painted more than 900 paintings. Told from the perspectives of three main characters -- Ellen, a museum researcher, Peter, a film director, and Vincent van Gogh himself -- Van Gogh follows in the artist's footsteps, traveling from the Netherlands to Auvers-sur-Oise and passing through Arles, Saint-Rémy and Paris. From the dazzling yellow of the artist's famous cornfields to the deep blue of his famous night sky, audiences will rediscover the source of some of the most important works in art history.
