This was an experience, and I would suggest anyone to go on this tour. Having to drive by yourself and stop were you want is a great opportunity. Even if we did not have the GPS the written directions given to us were fine. The lunch meal is OK when you are hungry, nothing great but can live with it! The only drawback was that the tour was confirmed on the day of the tour by the tour operator for a "tour with a Hummer", when we arrive at the rental company they mentioned that it was already 2 years that they have only jeep. I believe there was a miss communication, and we were disappointed even if the jeep was OK.

the day was great! it is a very relaxing and laid back way to see the grand canyon. we took our time and saw the things we wanted to see without the crowds and without the time limitations. The only thing that would have been helpful would have been returning driving instructions.

This is was one of the best parts of the trip!

Brilliant tour bit scary driving for the first time but soon got used to it, there is some amazing scenery to see on the way! The car wasn't as good as I thought, but was ok! I would highly recommend this trip but take the coach if your not confident in the drive. Top marks.

The road trip was very good, but the organisation of the company was terrible! I phoned 48 hrs ahead to confirm; all I got was an answering machine. I had to phone Viator to get some answers! When we arrived at the main entrance of the canyon, there was no tour operator office at the main buildings. Fearing the worst, we showed our vouchers for the coach trip part of our tour. They told us to just show the printed coupons at the offices of the coach company. Overall I would recommend this self drive package--it is excellent.
