First - about the tour company. An absolutely top-notch outfit! The tour went on exactly as described, from the initial meet at the railway station all through the return. Very careful attention to detail and timing, our guide Brandon was superb and the other guides I happened to meet were all wonderful people with a ton of knowledge. If all you do while in Ireland is book with this tour company, you will not be disappointed at all.
Next - this specific tour. If you are like me, with just one available day in Dublin and want to get a taste for some other part of Ireland, this is a good tour. It hits the right points to get some culture and some scenery. But do bear in mind that a LOT of ground is covered, it's a very long day, and you will be spending considerable time on the train and in the coach. There's just no avoiding it. I was fine with it - but in reading other reviews I suppose some people are not. Know what you're getting! There were a few people on my tour who were actually taking a series of consecutive Railway tours and bringing their luggage with them. They all had glowing things to say about the experience. So if you have more than a day to spare, I'd suggest not taking this particular tour end-to-end but rather terminate in Galway and catch another Rail tour from there. But again, if you have just the one spare day, get out of Dublin and take this tour to see the countryside!
And also don't forget that the Rail tour company does not control the weather. As it turns out the weather at the Cliffs was miserable, the weather at the Burren was tolerable, but still Brandon made a happy day out of it and I was not disappointed. Great outfit and great tour as long as you are ok with the time spent in transit.
