Rangitata River White-Water Rafting

Experience 2.5 hours of incredible rafting amongst spectacular scenery on Rangitata River, one of New Zealand's most exciting stretches of white water!

Depart from Christchurch and travel two hours south-west to the river base with an early lunch on arrival (approximately 10:30am). Take this opportunity to get to know everyone. You will receive a briefing for the day's activities and next it's time to get your safety and comfort equipment on for the two and a half hour white-water rafting adventure of a lifetime!

The first half hour you will raft on Grade 1 flat water. Here you will have a full safety brief and practical training will be given. The rapids then build in a natural progression to the intense Grade 4 and 5 sections where the full volume of the river narrows to a pinch.

After that there is often a chance for white water swimming and an optional leap from the famous "Jump Rock". You will return back to the river base for hot showers and a relaxed traditional barbecue will complete your fantastic day.
