Start with a stroll down the back roads and alleyways of Vienna’s Old Town past the stately Vienna Opera House, Albertina Square, Café Sacher and Augustinian Church (Augustinerkirche), built in the 14th century as the parish church of the Imperial Court of the Habsburgs.
Arrive at one of Vienna’s most famous squares, St Michael’s Square (Michaelerplatz), across from St Michael’s gate of Hofburg Palace. Here you’ll see St Michael’s Church, one of the oldest churches in Vienna dating from the 1200s. Nearby, see the palace’s Swiss Gate and Imperial Treasury.
See where the renowned Vienna Choir Boys perform and visit Heroes’ Square (Heldenplatz). As your guide will explain, many important events have taken place here, most notably Adolf Hitler's ‘Anschluss’ speech to the Austrians in 1938.
Continue with a stroll along the famous Ringstrasse (Ring Road) past the Museum of Fine Arts, the Naturhistorisches Museum, Parliament House, City Hall, Court Theatre and the University of Vienna. Visit Minoriten Church (Minoritenkirche) to see its remarkable mosaic rendition of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper.
Take a break at one of Vienna's famous coffee houses, Café Central, to enjoy a pastry or cake and a drink such as coffee, tea, juice, wine or beer. Feeling revitalized, continue to Freyung square, filled with many city palaces, and explore the old Jewish quarter, the center of Jewish life in the Middle Ages. Nearby, see the Ankeruhr clock in Hoher Markt square and visit Mozart’s house (Mozarthaus), where the famous Austrian composer lived from 1784 to 1787.
Your last stop is St Stephen’s Cathedral, the undisputed Gothic masterpiece of Vienna and the seat of the Archbishop. This is often considered as the most important religious building in Austria's capital. Your tour ends here, and your guide will be happy to offer recommendations on restaurants, cafes, bars or more Vienna attractions to discover on your own.

This tour was very informative, getting into some Austrian history but not in an overwhelming way. It was well-paced in that we stopped for the coffee/cake about 2/3 way through. Our guide was amazing--very professional and friendly.
