Long drive to Mont Saint Michel, but well worth it! Florence, our tour guide was great. Very knowledgeable and informative. I highly recommend this tour.Reviewed by: Lena R, November 2013
Trip is long but worth it. Beautiful place. They picked us up at hotel on time. Only complains the lady guide for Portuguese and Spanish decided to seat on the upper deck behind me and was doing her tour description out loud while I was trying to listen to the English tourist guide. I suggest she seat around her group to avoid interrupting others. Another thing, upon arrival to Paris, the tour guide sent us to the wrong place to catch our transportation back to hotel and ended up paying $20 for a taxi ride. We also saw other people who were in the tour lost trying to find the transportation. I suggest better coordination and knowledge between the guides and the tour company.Reviewed by: Olga R, December 2013
Unless you have a car it is quite difficult to get to the Mont except by tour, but it is well worth it.
Amazingly, some people said they didn't know it was over 300 steps to the top. This is NOT for
the weak or those with acrophobia. (You get a nice lunch included, but you have to eat before
you go up, again, not so good in some ways.)
Long bus ride, beautiful monastery. Do not get the food package. I had advised them my niece was vegetarian. They gave her a plate of white rice and cold pre frozen veggies. For the rest of us we had no choice but salmon. I don't like fish and 1/2 my table either didn't like it or were allergic. No other option so we got hard rice and cold veggies too. Tour guide was nice and informativeReviewed by: Shanna N, USA, November 2013
My wife and I booked this day trip/guided tour of Mont Saint Michel and had a really disappointing experience. The site is beautiful and not to be missed, however the tour left a lot to be desired. The logistics of the pick-up and pit stop on the way were well-organized and smooth, but problems started to come up the minute we reached the site. First, the scheduled lunch was pretty disgusting. Everything had been reheated and left out under a heat lamp--really inexcusable considering the tour cost and the availability of better options. We were so turned off by the food that we barely ate anything and picked up a snack on the island. Second, our tour was being conducted by the same guide in English and Spanish simultaneously, so everything was very rushed. We were just herded through the site--the guide barely acknowledged us other than speeding through explanations. Finally, the time on the mountain was very limited, especially with more than an hour spent on that ghastly lunch.
Buying the ticket that includes only the bus ride and admission to the site--an option we only found out about on the bus--would have been so much better.Reviewed by: Brian A, November 2013
