4-Day Santorini Excursion

Santorini is by far the most spectacular of the Greek Islands. Enjoy an unforgettable four-day self-guided tour exploring the sheer cliffs of the caldera and the surrounding black, red and white beaches all at your leisure.

The crescent shape of the island is a consequence of the activity of the volcano in prehistoric times. The island itself owes its very existence to the volcano. No trip to Santorini is complete without watching a sunset or sunrise from the village of Oia, perched on the cliffs of the caldera looking out to the Aegean sea.

There are many beaches dotted along the eastern coast including the famous Perissa and Perivolos beaches which together form the longest black sanded beach on the island. And be sure to visit Red beach with its high red cliffs and its hand size pebbles submerged beneath the crystal clear water.

Day two will take you to the volcano, the youngest volcanic lands in the Eastern Mediterranean. Enjoy an unforgettable experience as you climb the volcano and swim in the lovely hot springs! You will also discover Thirassia, separated from Santorini by an eruption in 236 BC.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Athens - Santorini
Depart Athens at 6:30am from your Athens hotel to Piraeus pier for hydro embarkation, sailing to Santorini. Early afternoon arrival and transfer to your hotel. Hotel Loucas or similar.

Day 02: Santorini - Thirassia
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Athinios Port for embarkation on board a small vessel to the volcano. Climb the volcano, swim in the hot springs and discover Thirassia before returning to Athinios Port at around 5:00pm.

Day 03: Santorini
The day is yours at leisure to explore the mysterious and majestic Santorini, the 'Black Pearl of the Aegean' and perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek islands. Around 1500 BC a volcanic eruption caused the central part of the island to sink into the sea, leaving a crescent shaped rim of cliffs around the harbor formed in the volcano's Caldera.

Day 04: Santorini - Piraeus
Mid morning transfer to Santorini pier for embarkation on the hydro to Piraeus arriving at approximately 8:00pm
