Drive along the only road in the world, which carries the honor of two recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize. See the Hector Pieterson Memorial, a symbol for youth resistance to apartheid. Hector was one of the first students to be killed during the Soweto Uprising of 1976, he was only 12 years old at the time. Marvel at the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital, the largest hospital in the world, occupying an area of 173 acres.

Discover the origins of humankind at the Origins Centre in the heart of Johannesburg. Combining cutting edge technology with the creative vision of South Africa's foremost artists, the narrative structure of the museum takes visitors through an extraordinary journey of discovery.

Continue to Maropeng and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as The Cradle of Humankind. Here you can embark on an underground boat ride into the lime caves beneath the Tumulus (ancient burial mound) where you will learn about the history of humankind through exhibits that are interactive and educational. Itinerary:

Day 01: Johannesburg - Soweto (D)

Depart on a Half Day morning Soweto Tour, which includes a fascinating glimpse of neighbourhood life. Drive past two Nobel Prize winners’ previous residences; Hector Pieterson Memorial, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital (largest hospital in Africa) and various community development projects. Transfer to and overnight at Lesedi Cultural Village.

Day 02: Origins Centre and Maropeng (B)

After breakfast depart for tour of the Origins Centre. Discover human origin in Africa, creation of tools, language,
art and spirituality. Holograms, virtual visual shows and basic DNA test on touch screen. Then visit Maropeng at
the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. Afternoon transfer to Johannesburg.
