This sprawling metropolis of more than 3.5 million people is synonymous with South Africa's turbulent past and its hopes for the future. On this tour you'll take a peek into the past by visiting Freedom Square, symbol of the nation's struggle for liberty. You'll visit the Mandela Museum, see Desmond Tutu's home and stand on the only road in the world that's home to two recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Your tour includes a full view of Soweto from the vicinity of Baragwanath Hospital, visits to African merchants selling traditional medicines, a visit to a typical four-roomed dwelling, an informal settlement, a creche, an old-age home, affluent suburbs and a typical "shebeen" (tavern).

• Coaches are not wheelchair accessible.
• Toilets are available on coaches with a seating capacity of 28 to 44 passengers. There are no toilets on the 15 seater Sprinters and Minivans. Vehicle used will depend on passenger numbers on the day.
