Departing from central London, your small-group tour will set off in the direction of England’s West Country -- more specifically the peaceful south west counties of Somerset, Devon and Cornwall that are home to great prehistoric ruins, picturesque fishing villages and quaint seaside resorts. You'll see the apple orchards of Somerset, the patchwork countryside of Devon, awe-inspiring moorlands, the Jurassic Coast (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the famed sandy beaches of the southwest shore.
Tradition and culture in this part of the country have remained true to the English spirit, and you feel like you’ve traveled back to a slower-paced age. It's a land of Celtic legend and King Arthur, the romantic leader whose footsteps you’ll follow as you learn about his life from your local expert guide. King Arthur, famous for his Round Table created to enforce the concept of equality among his knights, is the key figure of the Arthurian legend that spawned many stories, folklore and films about honor and loyalty in 6th-century Britain.

Itinerary:
Day One: (D)Departing London, drive southwest through Hampshire and the ancient kingdom of Wessex to its capital, Winchester. In Winchester’s medieval hall, you will see King Arthur's legendary Round Table. You’ll also see the spectacular 7th-century Winchester Cathedral, renowned for its architecture and hidden treasures. After taking a stroll through the city, there'll be time for a coffee before returning to the coach for a journey into the timeless country of Dorsetshire.
Follow the Dorset coast, high above Chesil Beach, to the quaint town of Dorchester. The journey takes you along the stunning Jurassic Coast – a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its geology and fossil finds. You’ll reach the village of Lyme Regis, where Jane Austen's novel Persuasion was based. Wandering along Lyme Regis' 18th-century promenade, you'll see its famous ancient harbor that continues to inspire writers and artists from around the world. From here, your tour will continue to your overnight seaside accommodation in time for dinner.
Day Two: (B, D)
In the morning, you'll explore the region known as the "English Riviera" -- approximately 22 miles (35 km) of coastline, where you will enjoy unique geology and spectacular views. This is Agatha Christie country and the setting for many of her famous crime novels. You'll travel through the Victorian towns and fishing villages along the coast before stopping for a traditional Devonshire clotted cream tea! In the afternoon, travel through the rugged Dartmoor National Park. Get your cameras ready as you meander through beautiful country lanes, over ancient stone bridges and through dramatic rolling countryside where ponies roam wild. You will then return to your seaside accommodation for dinner.
Day Three: (B)
The first highlight of Day Three is the mystical town of Glastonbury, home to the Glastonbury Abbey, the reputed site of King Arthur’s and Queen Guinevere’s burials. You’ll then visit the attractive market city of Wells, known for its ornate cathedral and Vicar’s Close (the oldest continuously inhabited medieval street in Europe). From here, your small-group tour returns to London, arriving in the early evening.
