Our guide was a good driver around all the curvy roads. He stopped for photos when it was appropriate, and was very knowledgeable. He was helpful and waited patiently at the ski resort.

I was worried about the drive to the mountains because the guide books make it sound tough with all the sharp turns. Fortunately the drive was enjoyable and the view and skiing were excellent.

The trip to Valle Nevado Ski Resort in the fall of the year is not a full day's trip. Our guide spoke excellent English which made it so easy to understand her. Our driver was very careful in driving the hairpin curves and we enjoyed the drive there and back. The trip to the Andes would be more enjoyable if there were a ski resort that is open in the off season that offers a meal. It was a little disappointing that the mountains were not high enough to have snow on their peaks.

One who goes there has to be prepared to ski otherwise there is nothing else to do. Of course, the Andes sightseeing is worth it too but when you get there there is nothing to do but skiing. If you do not ski, think about other things to do while waiting your tour to be ready to come back to Santiago.

We went in the summer so obviously there was no snow which would have made it more impressive.
