Do not spend less than a full day at the Academy! My wife and I spent a Saturday there, and at the end of the day, many exhibitions were left for our next visit. The most amazing was definitely the rain forest, taking you in a spiral journey among birds and colorful butterflies, from soil to canopy, inside a huge bubble greenhouse. Also, we were impressed by the aquarium: its meanderings and reef walls let you wander peacefully among incredibly diverse underwater dwellers. If we have to pick a third one, that would be the planetarium 360deg dome projection with an amazing astronomical journey through space and time. On a side note: the cafeteria food is excellent (and organic/eco friendly). Enjoy your visit!

We wanted to go to the California Academy of Sciences for a long time and finally made it last Saturday. We went there soon after the opening hour and enjoyed every second until closing time! From the Africa exposition and the penguins show, to the 3D bug show and the Planetorium Nasa based film, and to the green living roof terrace - it was fantastic and each exhibition was really very well made and interesting. we especially loved the Aquarium with wonderful fishes - see an octopus so close was amazing, and the dragon fishes were just incredible! The top of the top was the rainforest - just fantastic! You feel the humidity, you walk among butterflies flying around you, and what a collection of frogs of all kinds, red, bright green, yellow, rocky look, tiny and big! The layout of the whole building is great, and seeing the fishes from the top of the rainforest and right through to the bottom of the Aquarium is fantastic. The food at the Cafe is nice too, and is very convenient for a quick bit before hitting the rest of the exhibition. We did not stop talking about our day and we will definitely go for the Platinum Behind the Scenes tour to get more insights.
