This was one of the best tours I have ever done. Excellent value for money and so informative, brilliant tour guide. I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in Gallipoli and Troy.

3 star rating: Worth doing

Overall, a positive experience. We enjoyed the view of the Dardenelles, the history of the Gallipoli battlefield, and especially the tour of the ruins of Troy/Ilium. It was worth the overnight stay, and our accommodations at resort hotel outside of Cannikale were very pleasant.

It was good to have hotel pickup and dropoff in Istanbul. However, the pickup was 45 minutes late (the guide apologized), as they had difficulties finding hotels. Our dropoff was near, but not at, our hotel in Sirkece.

It seemed that the subcontractor, was somewhat disorganized. There various groups on different itineraries overlapping. Our guide for Troy, while knowledgeable, had no idea whether we were supposed to return to Istanbul that night.

In the end, we spent about two hours at Troy. I would have liked at least two more hours to explore the site on my own. Perhaps the tour could be reorganized to allow for more time at this world historical site. The Aussies love ANZAC cove, where we spent an entire afternoon. But we were more interested in Troy, where little time was spent, after a five-hour busride in each direction.
