Amsterdam Shore Excursion: Amsterdam City Sightseeing Tour
Visit one of the many famous windmills and learn about Amsterdam’s unique origin: because the city is situated below sea level, its name points to the first dam built in the 13th century on the River Amstel. Now encompassing 90 islands connected by 1,500 bridges, Amsterdam is best known for its canals lined with elaborate gabled houses, warehouses and churches from the 17th century -- the Dutch 'Golden Age.'
Then stop at a diamond factory, where you’ll see how the gems are polished using traditional methods.
To get a better view of the city, upgrade your tour to include an exciting 1-hour boat trip along a typical Dutch canal and through Amsterdam’s Old Harbor!

After a short walk into the city proper, we picked up our bus for the City tour, which was pleasant enough. We had a wonderful woman as guide and her commentary was excellent. Followed by the 1 hour Canal ride, in an open air boat, the whole day went off well and I can find no complaint to lodge.
Well done Viator!

Not a terrible bus tour, but the stop at the diamond factory was irritating as it was only a sales pitch. Our time in Amsterdam was limited because we were on a cruise top and had only one day to enjoy all that the city had to offer. Being "held hostage" to this sales pitch as part of a two hour tour was very disappointing.
