El Nil, as we now call it went beyond all my expectations it was a wonderful experience especially so as there was only 10 passengers for the first 4 days and 25 for the last 3. The up side of cruising out of season! Full marks also for the tour guide.

great trip....outstanding value for money....unbelievable sites.....having more detailed trip notes and someone on the ship to give us a more comprehensive history of Egypt would have helped us to understand more about what we were looking at.....locals selling felucca trips, horse rides and taxis were a pain in the backside and the police ought to be doing more to stop them....guidance from Viator about how much to tip and to who would have been very helpful and helped to remove a constant source of worry

Trip down the river was excellent from Luxor to Aswan; enough people on board to make everything worth doing. Trip back from Aswan to Luxor was not nearly as good. Very few people on the boat, and as we had seen all the temples on the first trip, sun baking and swimming in the plunge pool where the only activities.

Continual maintenance work being carried out during the cruise, electric sawing, hammering, etc which went on until late at night. Refurbishment of lounge during the day. Unpleasant smell of cellulose in cabin as a result of maintenance work.
Brick and marble flower bed dismantled in reception area during last two days of tour, creating a hazard when going to the restaurant and getting on and off the boat.
Lack of information from crew, eg. breakfast time for following day changed after we had retired. No additional tours offered by guide, inquiries met with 'difficulties'. Guide left boat in Aswan so we were on our own for the return trip. Tour itinerary different from one supplied and no reason made apparent or given. Significant amount of tips expected when on included tour, tips for bus driver, boatman, etc. Food cold and not varied. Insufficient food on the return trip at mealtimes.
The swimming Pool was dirty - we did not use pool for the entire trip. The cruise itinerary 8days 7 nights as advertised was not followed. We did not overnight in Edfu on return, the ship went from Aswan to Luxor with a three hour stop before breakfast. We got back to Luxor a day earlier than advertised. We sailed only thee days, two from Luxor to Aswan and one day from Aswan to Luxor. We stayed at the Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa before the cruise and after the cruise and that was definitely 5 STAR - a well recommended Resort. There was no electric jugs in our two cabins. Tea and coffee was served at breakfast, but we had to pay for tea and coffee at lunch and dinner. Bottled water and soft drink was LE 12.0 on the ship and LE 3.0 to LE 5.0 on Land. There was no complimentary bottled water in bar fridge in cabin. The bar fridge was empty - no grog or soft drink at all. We could not borrow or rent an iron for ironing my shirts. WE had to pay for the very slow laundry service on the ship. The laundry service could not guarantee reliable outcomes for their service and so offered as an example 10 x the value of the cleaning cost i.e. LE 5 for a Shirt. That would equate to LE 50 for a shirt that I paid LE 500. There was no safety briefings and where to go if we were on fire or sinking, even the staff gave me as many answers. The internet Connection was very slow. It was a 6 day 5 night cruise, Luxor to Luxor. The only cruise from Luxor to Aswan over two or three days and then travel to Abu Simbel.
