If you have your own transportation, then a drive to Portage Glacier is truly worthwhile. As you skirt the shores of Turnagain Arm, watch for wildlife. When you arrive at Lake Portage, board the M/V Ptarmigan for an unforgettable one hour cruise across iceberg-dotted Portage Lake. Take a seat in the enclosed lounge or on the open-air observation deck. The cruise is narrated by a representative of the U.S. Forest Service. The cruise will conclude at the original departure point, allowing you to continue your drive at leisure.
