When you’re watching Johnny Depp get into trouble as Captain Jack Sparrow, do you ever wonder about the real history of the pirates of the Caribbean? On this fun and interesting Nassau tour, go back in time to the 17th and 18th centuries, when the Bahamas was a pirate haven. Visit the Pirates of Nassau Museum; hear intriguing stories of the notorious pirates who wreaked havoc on the sea and learn how Sir Woodes Rogers successfully purged the colony of these swashbucklers.

Leave the beach behind and enter the world of Nassau’s pirates! Visit the Pirates of Nassau Museum where you will step back in time to the golden age of piracy, from 1690 to 1720, when Nassau was the tropical paradise for these rogues. Your guide will recount the daily life of a pirate and tell you stories about the tactics pirates employed to devastate and plunder merchant ships.

You’ll learn about some of the most notorious pirates of the Caribbean, such as Captain Edward “Blackbeard” Teach, Anne Bonny and Mary Reid. Discover Captain Blackbeard’s reputation as the biggest pirate menace in the Caribbean and hear how he was elected as the Privateers’ Republic magistrate. See the wishing well where Captain Teach stored the treasures he looted. Hear about Anne Bonny and Mary Reid, famous for being female pirates who fought fiercely alongside men.

Visit Old Fort Nassau, where some believe Captain Blackbeard’s ghost still lurks. On the way, stop by Fort Charlotte and Fort Fincastle for a 360-view of the island from its ideal vantage point. Take a stroll on the spectacular beach along Fort Montagu. Your guide will conclude this pirate adventure with the story of how Woodes Rodgers, the Governor of the Bahamas, brought order to Nassau.
