After check-in at your central Munich accommodation, you'll be met by an expert guide for a 2-hour walking tour of Munich. See top attractions such as the famous Marienplatz square, and visit stores selling traditional Bavarian outfits of Lederhosen and Dirndls - perfect attire for blending in with the locals at Oktoberfest! In the evening, you'll visit a recommended Munich Beerhouse, so you can start sampling the steins of beer which will feature throughout your weekend!
Head out early the next morning to the Oktoberfest grounds, and soak up the festival spirit. Known locally as the "Wiesn", Oktoberfest started in 1810 when it was created to celebrate the royal wedding of Prince Ludwig II to Princess Therese of Saxony. Held almost every year since, the beer festival has become one of the world's biggest parties, and empty seats in the beer tents are notoriously difficult to find! Handily, your 4-day package includes some sought-after seats in the famous Lowenbrau beer tent.
In total, the Oktoberfest grounds contain 14 beer tents, and your expert guides will happily share their recommendations. All serve hearty German food alongside the obligatory steins of beer, so be sure to try out traditional specialties of Bratwurst (sausages) or Wiener Schnitzel (breaded veal) to soak up the beer! Fair rides and carousels are also within the grounds, providing entertainment alongside a backdrop of oom-pah music and joviality from the Oktoberfest crowds.
For those keen to sample a more sedate side of Bavaria, swap your second day at Oktoberfest for a day-trip to Neuschwanstein Castle. The full-day Neuschwanstein trip includes a coach transfer from Munich.
