This small-group day trip from Sydney shows you the highlights of the New South Wales (NSW) South Coast including Kangaroo Valley and the Southern Highlands, with stops at famous places including Fitzroy Falls and the Kiama Blowhole. Enjoy a great day away from Sydney and see nature in all its glory. Depart from the city in the morning and travel south to Stanwell Tops, a popular lookout spot, to admire spectacular scenic views of the countryside and coastal region. Then, take a walk over one of the most scenic and beautiful roads in Australia, the magnificent Sea Cliff Bridge, before traveling to Kiama and the famous blowhole , the largest blowhole in the world. See the vigorous sprays of water from the blowhole reach amazing heights.The name Kiama is derived from a local Aboriginal word meaning ‘where the sea makes noise,’ and you will certainly hear it! Wander around the nearby UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kiama Lighthouse, which opened in 1887, and take some time to enjoy morning tea.
Afterwards, board a boat for a 2-hour whale-watching cruise on Jervis Bay! See humpback whales as they migrate up and down the coastline, and spot pods of bottlenose dolphins, seals, fish and birds. Enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the pristine Jervis Bay and take a walk along the white sand of at Hyams Beach, where you can take a swim or simply relax.
Next, visit an Aboriginal craft shop to see boomerangs and didgeridoos being handcrafted. Continue the drive to Kangaroo Valley and visit the historic Hampden Bridge, the oldest surviving suspension bridge in Australia.
The last stop of the day is magnificent Fitzroy Falls, where the waterfall plunges 262 feet (80 meters) down into thick eucalyptus tree forests. Enjoy afternoon tea and take a short walk through the rainforest before journeying through the scenic Southern Highlands and townships of historic Bowral and Mittagong.
