On this three day walk, you explore the Freycinet National Park on the East Coast of Tasmania and the Douglas Apsley National Park nearby. Carrying only a day pack, you will explore these spectacular National Parks. In season there are many wildflowers and wildlife abounds. Each night will be spent at simple but comfortable cabins in the village of Coles Bay, on the edge of the Freycinet National Park.3-Day Freycinet Trek includes 2 nights accommodation in cabins, Goretex rain jacket and waterproof overpants, sleeping bag with inner sheet, National Park fees, all meals, bus transfers and secure storage for excess luggage.

Day 1: Launceston / Douglas Apsley National Park / Coles Bay (L, D)
Meet at 8:30am for gear check and briefing. A scenic drive east from Launceston takes you to the Douglas Apsley National Park, where you walk the Apsley Gorge circuit, a picturesque walk featuring Oyster Bay Pines, sheer cliffs and a tranquil rock pool fed by miniature waterfalls. This park is the largest area of undisturbed dry sclerophyll forest remaining in Tasmania. You overnight in cabins in the village of Coles Bay.

Day 2: Coles Bay / Freycinet National Park / Coles Bay (B, L, D)
Visit Freycinet National Park for a full day walk, discovering the secluded bays, white sand beaches and sheer granite cliffs on your walk to Wineglass Bay. You have the opportunity to see many bird and mammal species, such as the Bennetts wallaby, Tasmanian Pademelon, wombat, black cockatoo, swift parrot and green rosella. After lunch you continue your circuit walk via the Isthmus Track to Hazards Beach and Lemana Lookout, a small rocky headland with great southerly views of the Peninsula and Schouten Island. Tonight you overnight again at Coles Bay.

Day 3: Coles Bay / Launceston (B, L)
Today you have the opportunity to walk toward the summit of Mt Amos for panoramic views of mountain and coast. This is a rugged walk and most of the ascent route is on bare rock. An alternative walk is to explore the remote and often deserted Friendly Beaches, including a visit to Saltwater Lagoon where large numbers of black swans and other waterfowl can be seen. After lunch, you return to Launceston via Campbelltown, arriving at approximately 5:00pm.

- Trip Grading: Easy to Moderate Easy Walking - carrying only a day pack, 3 to 5 hours per day, some uphill, all on paths. Moderate Walking - carrying a backpack on some uphill terrain.
- Weather: The above itinerary should be seen as a guide only. Weather conditions normally remain stable over much of the summer, but it is important to note that weather can change rapidly in Tasmania and as such, weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances may cause the content of the trip to be altered or delayed. Your safety and enjoyment are paramount at all times.
- Trip Prerequisites: Although the 3 day Freycinet Walk has easy bush walking and is suitable for first timers, it is suggested that you take regular light exercise in the weeks leading up to your expedition.
- Health and Fitness Requirements: Please choose a trip within your capabilities. As with most activities, the fitter you are prior to departure, the more you will enjoy the trip. However, the majority of their trips only require you to be in reasonably good health.
