Skip the Line: Ancient Rome and Colosseum Half-Day Walking Tour
Reviewed by: danwrite, May 2015
Although we were tired because we started with a three-hour tour of the Vatican, our guide made the afternoon even more memorable. We visited many sights in the ancient Roman Forum, then walked to the Colosseum and walked all around there. Our only caveat would be to not try to do this tour on the same day you do another walking tour, because there is a lot, and I mean a lot, of walking. You walk up hills, down hills, visit palaces, travel over uneven surfaces, up three flights of stairs of the Colosseum, all around the Colosseum, and that doesn't mention the several blocks you have to walk from the Forum to the Colosseum. So this is a great tour, but only take it if you can handle a tremendous amount of climbing and walking.

Guide was very well versed on the history of the Colosseum and Rome in general. He was patient and made sure everyone was able to stay with the group, even my 91 year old mother. Incredible building.

Mariella was the perfect guide, her knowledge of archaeology in addition to her in depth knowledge of the Colosseum and Palatine hill really made this tour a special one! Anyone can walk around the Collesseum but in order to truly appreciate the site, understanding the history is key and thanks to Mariella we were able to do this.
