Spot the Spanish-influenced architecture in the whitewashed walls and red-tiled roofs and take in the sensational coastal views.

Santa Barbara is known for its distinct micro climates and rich wine-making history, so grab a glass of fine wine before heading to your overnight destination, San Luis Obispo, which was founded in 1772 and is known as one of California’s oldest communities.

Day 2 begins with a scenic drive up Pacific Coast Highway to the charming fishing town of Monterey. While in Monterey you will discover remote beaches and enjoy a picnic lunch, all while taking in the fresh, salty sea air. After soaking up the scenic beauty and diverse marine life at Monterey, you will head to your overnight stop at Salinas, which was the hometown of much celebrated American author John Steinbeck, who wrote the Pulitzer Prize-winning novels The Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, and Of Mice and Men.

Upon waking to the birds chirping and refueling with breakfast on your final day, you will drive through the agricultural hub of Salinas Valley. The temperate climate and fertile soil make this area rich for grapes, flowers, and other crops. Stop at a local farmer's market and sample some of the fresh produce before heading on to Santa Cruz for the afternoon. After you take a stroll on the boardwalk and enjoy this lively university town, San Francisco will welcome you with open arms.
