Ruins of Pompeii
This is me in the foreground, the Pompeii ruins and Mt Vesuvius (volcano that destroyed Pompeii) in the background.
Pompeii - Unfortunate resident
This is a plaster caste of a person obviously trying to cover his nose and mouth to save himself from asphyxiation during the eruption. The plaster caste came from an archaeological technique of pumping plaster into cavities in the ruins which captures the exact time when Pompeii was buried. There are a number of these exhibits... quite sad really but totally amazing!

My grandfather took the same picture in 1905, using a stereoscopic camera. So, for me it is two historical meanings.
